Internship Opportunities

Journey to Clarity Counseling proudly welcomes master’s-level counseling interns who are completing their clinical training. Our interns bring fresh perspectives, current evidence-based knowledge, and a deep commitment to providing compassionate, client-centered care. All clinical work is completed under the supervision of Dr. Maya Cobb, ensuring high-quality services and a strong learning environment.

Supervision Approach

Dr. Cobb integrates a Psychodynamic framework with Bernard and Goodyear’s Discrimination Model, emphasizing:

• Self-reflection and awareness of unconscious processes
• Understanding transference and countertransference
• Structured developmental support through the roles of teacher, counselor, and consultant

This comprehensive approach helps interns strengthen their clinical skills, deepen their self-awareness, and grow professionally within a supportive and collaborative setting.

Internship Structure

We welcome interns for one- or two-semester placements, depending on academic requirements and fit.

Compensation

Interns are compensated $20 per client for all eligible sessions.

Journey to Clarity Counseling also offers internship opportunities for students who are interested in the mental health field but are not yet in their clinical internship phase. These positions are ideal for bachelor’s-level students or master’s students seeking early exposure to counseling practice operations before beginning their formal clinical training.

Pre-clinical interns support our administrative team and gain experience in areas such as client communication, scheduling, practice workflows, documentation support, and the overall functioning of a mental health organization. This hands-on experience helps students build strong foundational skills and a deeper understanding of the field.

Administrative and pre-clinical internship positions include a stipend, which is designed to support students during their training. This stipend is not intended to represent full-time employment compensation, but rather to provide financial support while gaining valuable experience in preparation for future clinical work.

These roles do not require master’s-level standing and are open to students at various stages of their academic journey.
